A new identity for Germany’s historic city of Nuremberg throughout my bachelor thesis.

DESIGN CONCEPT

The task was to create a new modern design concept for the current brand of the city of Nuremberg.
An abstract approach based on the main elements of all forms (circle, square, triangle, line), should create the logo and other icons while using the shapes on a grid. In the light of a „smart city“, every institution is able to take part in forming the urban image of a city, by creating their own Logo, based on the modular system.

PROCESS

The design mark shows the first letter N of Nuremberg in combination with the red bend from the original crest.
The logo mark creates its appereance with the use of the heraldic bend, which connects Nuremberg to its historic origin.

 

 

 

LOGO

The logo is built on black with red as the primary color.
The tagline exists of three words describing the „Nürnberg-experience“. It is displayed in different languages, aiming at the global character of the brand.

SUBLOGOS

Sublogos are generated on the modular grid system for all public buildings, touristic locations and institutions citywide. They are used in public announcements, advertisements, and personal documentation.

APP

To discover the cities most interesting places, the app guides you, and you can collect your own Nuremberg-experience by scanning all the sublogos on every specific location.

STYLE GUIDE

This bachelorproject was presented at the Echo Werkschau 2018, DHBW Ravensburg. The final result was a printed corporate design styleguide.
